Emergency Resources
Faculty, staff, and students in need of any type of emergency assistance while abroad are instructed to contact the CISI Team Assist 24/7 Hotline at +1 312 935 1703 (Add to your contacts prior to departure). CISI Team Assist accepts collect calls, and is available to provide direct assistance with overseas medical, security or legal emergencies. CISI Team Assist can also be reached by email.
As an alternative, students may also contact the University of Utah Department of Public Safety at +1 801 585 COPS
For all emergencies, seek help without delay at the nearest medical facility and then, after admittance, open up a case with CISI Team Assist at any time by contacting +1 312 935 1703.
If a University member’s medical condition requires an evacuation from their current international location in order to obtain further medical treatment - CISI Team Assist is available to open a medical file and assist with this process*. Dependent on CISI's medical review, travelers may be evacuated to the closest location abroad where the necessary medical care can be provided, or back to the United States. Contact CISI Team Assist at +1 312 935 1703 in order to obtain more information or direction regarding this process.
*In order for any medical or security-related evacuation costs to be covered by our insurance policy - all approvals and arrangements must be made by CISI Team Assist in conjunction with the attending physician (for a medical evacuation), or with i-JET (for a security evacuation). University members are encouraged to contact CISI Team Assist as soon as possible to open a medical or security file if assistance is needed.
If a University member believes that specific security concerns in their area of travel warrant an evacuation, CISI Team Assist is available to open a security file and assist with this process*. Contact CISI Team Assist at +1 312 935 1703 for more information.

Travel Safety Updates

COVID-19 International Travel Restrictions
Effective March 12, 2020, the University of Utah has suspended all university travel, and is requiring all travelers currently abroad to make immediate travel arrangements to return stateside.
This includes:
- All students participating in university-affiliated student programs abroad
- All university-affiliated student travel in international locations
- All employee travelers currently abroad
*Note that the University Asia Campus remains open and operational, and any student travelers currently abroad participating in UAC programs are exempt from this travel suspension.
All University of Utah travelers abroad should make arrangements at this time to return home. Please note that U students and employees do not have the option of remaining abroad under university sponsorship. University staff in departments coordinating international student programs will be in touch with students abroad to provide additional guidance and assistance, and all students and employees are expected to remain in communication with their respective university units.
