Alex Leger, the inaugural International Faculty and Staff Liaison in the Office for Global Engagement, provides support for faculty and staff joining the U from other countries.
Between the logistical load of procuring a visa and finding housing and the emotional labor of adapting to a new culture, many international faculty will benefit from this resource during their first few months in their new position and throughout their career at the U.
In her new role, Leger does not offer legal advice (units should continue to contact the Office of General Counsel), but she does work to foster connections, build belonging, support faculty and help answer unique questions to avoid isolation for these faculty members.
Leger holds walk-in office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30–2:30 p.m., and virtual office hours on Wednesdays and Fridays from Noon–4 p.m. for both international faculty and leaders who support those faculty, such as department chairs and associate deans.
