Did you know that Songdo International Business District, home of the U Asia Campus, was just a dream a couple of decades ago? The city is a 1,500 acre “smart city,” built from scratch on the Yellow Sea. Bloomberg recently showcased the city (and the U Asia Campus!) in their Quicktake series and you can view the video below.

The U Asia campus opened in the Songdo district of Incheon, South Korea, in 2014 as part of the Incheon Global Campus— a dynamic education model that brings prestigious universities from around the world into one location. Other IGC institutions include Ghent University, George Mason University and State University of New York (SUNY).

Studies show that employers place high value on job candidates who have international experience. The U Asia Campus offers University of Utah students an opportunity to learn and live in Korea while working toward a U.S. degree. Students develop global leadership skills without interrupting their course plan. Courses, majors and minors are available in:

  • Communication
  • Film & Media Arts
  • Psychology
  • Urban Ecology
  • Civil & Environmental Engineering
  • Computer Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

General Education courses are also available.

Studying at the U Asia Campus offers U students many benefits in addition to a rich international experience. Students from the Salt Lake City campus pay the in-state tuition rate when they attend the U Asia Campus— this includes out-of-state students—for up to two semesters. All courses are taught in English by U professors and, because the courses are part of the U’s catalog, there is no need to transfer credits. Korea is safe, fun (K-pop!), offers great food, beautiful cities and rich history.
